Why do wisdom teeth need to be removed?
Wisdom teeth are adult teeth that form in people in the late teens to early twenties. Few people never develop wisdom teeth, but for those that do, it could cause problems. Because the other molars have already grown in, the wisdom teeth might not erupt from the gums normally. Oftentimes, wisdom teeth will grow in crooked, or impacted, and cause pain. Problems from wisdom teeth include trapped food, tooth decay, cysts around the tooth, and complications to other teeth.
