What are the side effects of wisdom tooth removal?

After surgery, the certified dentist, similar to our Maple Grove dentist, will give directions to care for the mouth while it heals. Even while these are being followed, the patient will feel stiff, swelling, bruising, bleeding, numbness, and some pain from the area. If the socket becomes dry or it bleeds excessively a couple days after surgery, contact your dentist. Dry socket is when the blood clot falls out often, or fails to form, in which case you may be able to see the bone the tooth was cut from. Infection rarely happens if directions are followed, however it can be serious if not dealt with. Signs of infection include high temperature, yellow or white substances coming from the socket, and persistent pain and swelling. If you experience any of these side effects, contact us right away.
